How would you describe your style?
– My style is strongly jazz related and deeply rooted in the 30’s and 40’s tap and authentic jazz tradition.

Where do you find inspiration?
– Josephine Baker, Bill Robinson, Jeni LeGon, the Nicholas Brothers, John Bubbles, Fred Astaire and many of those wonderful talented but uncredited dancers you can find in Oscar Micheaux movies for instance.

Jonas Nermyr

A force of nature, always with new creative dance projects bubbling. Jonas works as a choreographer, teacher and performer. He is also the founder of Stockholm Tap Festival.

Where do you find inspiration?
– Music, music & music! And I guess as many of us, watching footage of the old tap legends 🙂

How would you describe your style?
– As a lindyhopper since 30 years I am deeply rooted in swing jazz, both in dance and music. But depending on what grooves and rhythms I wanna play I try to adopt to the specific style of movement and sound.

– I have over the years been studying a lot for Roxane Butterfly and Jason Samuels Smith and I guess you can see and hear some of them in my dancing.

What are you working on right now?
– One of my current projects is Reencuentro, a dance concert put together by Gabriela Gutarra. It’s a mix of Flamenco, classical Spanish music and South American/Afro-Peruvian music. I dance and play cajon/percussion.

At GBG Tap Weekend Jonas will teach all levels of regular classes and also the extra Teachers Choice classes Flow/Rolling Subdivisions and Improvisation & Musicality.
